Select a session from multiple time slots to learn more about what you can expect from the course. This introductory session is designed to introduce you to the course, Canvas, and your live sessions. You'll learn how to use specific Canvas features that will help you complete your course, schedule and session details for your live sessions, and what it takes to earn your certificate of completion. The information in this session is also covered in the introduction module of your course so you can review the content on your own if you're not able to join the live walk-through.
How does politics impact law? During this session we’ll learn how these two worlds collide. Some topics include election laws, campaign finances, and lobby laws. This session is a must attend for any student interested in the US legal or political systems.
During this hour, come experience what it’s like to be on the International Law Commission (ILC). You’ll take on the role as a delegate as you explore existing laws around a specific topic and determine if they need to be improved.
Come meet our featured guest. They have first-hand experience working in the legal industry and on the international stage. During this session you’ll hear about their career, education path, and advice they have for students interested in law and government.
During this session you’ll explore the idea “innocent until proven guilty” along with jury trials and how this US-based system differs on the international stage. You’ll work with your peers to explore a case through the lens of a US and international trial.
Impact of technology. Topics include AI, testifying virtually, DNA searches/databases.
Spend the hour getting to know your peers and mentors. During this session, you’ll spend time getting to know other students who are also taking a Georgetown Law or Government course. You’ll also be able to learn more about some of the course mentors as talk more about their educational journeys.
Corporations and special interest groups play a part in law and governments. During this session you’ll be tasked to identify what are conflicts of interest in law, US politics, and other countries. How would you address these conflicts? Come test your skills during the session.
