- Design the ideal healthcare team for either congestive heart failure or thyroid cancer.
- Include at least five healthcare providers, including both physicians and non-physician medical professionals.
- For each healthcare provider, describe the specific role this individual will play in the patient's care and why this person is critical to the care of your patient.
- Identify elements of patient care that occur in or outside a hospital, such as diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

Dr. Rebecca Evangelista, MD, FACS
Professor of Surgery and General Surgeon at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH)
Dr. Evangelista designed and leads both the surgery and medicine pre-college courses. She was the Director for Undergraduate Surgical Education for over 10 years and now focuses on educational leadership in the professional development of faculty and residents. She has been a general surgeon at MGUH since January 2006. Dr. Evangelista completed medical school at Upstate Medical University, a general surgery residency at George Washington University Hospital, and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Virginia.
Meet Your Mentors
Ursula
Undergraduate student at Georgetown University majoring in Biology of Global Health. Ursula is pursuing a premedical track and is interested in the connections between the environment and human health.
Kayla
Georgetown University alum with a B.S. in Biology of Global Health and minor in Statistics. Kayla served as Vice President for the Georgetown University Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (GUMAPS) and dedicated time to the Georgetown's Center for Social Justice to fight the school to prison pipeline. Kayla is currently working for the CDC as a research assistant.
Yaxeni
Georgetown University alum with a B.S. in Global Health and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. Yaxeni is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree with the goal of ensuring minority and vulnerable populations have access to optimal health services.
Amber
Holds a B.S. degree in both Kinesiology and Sociology. Amber was previously a Teaching Assistant in a Microbes in a Human Disease and Human Physiology class.
Eklam
Georgetown University alum with B.S. in Biology of Global Health. Completed pre-med prerequisites and passionate about healthcare equity and access.
