Sample +Live Session Topics
Put on your detective cap as you explore a medical mystery. Work with your peers to review a hypothetical patient's symptoms, labs, imaging, and past medical/family history in order to reach a potential diagnosis and make treatment recommendations. Use empirical research and previous studies to present your rationale for selected therapies and consider eligibility for clinical trials.
Join Dr. Mark Hill, a surgeon with over 45 years of experience, as he takes you through a day in the operating room. Dr. Hill will answer your questions while introducing you to what it takes to become a surgeon. Whether you see a future in surgery, research, or medicine in general, you'll gain a unique perspective from a surgeon's point of view.
Your mobile emergency response unit is being deployed to a series of escalating medical emergencies. Your team starts the day with a full range of medical skills/competencies, but at each stop, you'll need to vote one skill/competency off the ambulance to make room for each new patient you encounter. Work with your peers to decide which medical skills/competencies are most important, save your patients, and survive the day.
Come meet with a physician during this Q&A session. You'll learn about their career path, job responsibilities, and what advice they would give to students interested in a career in medicine.
How do medical professionals make the best possible patient-centered decisions? In this session, you'll explore the role of evidence-based medicine in clinical decision making. Discover how physicians identify the appropriate evidence, review the best available literature, and use their clinical experience to do just that.
Medical researchers and health professionals make difficult decisions every day. How do they navigate the uncertain landscape of these decisions - how would you? In this interactive session, you'll reflect on the bioethical foundations that guide a practice through the lens of the 4 pillars of the hippocratic oath.
Join our program mentors for an exclusive Q&A. You can ask them any questions you have about the program, their career paths, or educational journeys.
